About Artist

Exploring our attitudes towards nature and culture, Gemma's work encourages an awareness of the everyday and the overlooked. Through focusing on the form and intricate detail of her subject matter she is able to capture its essence. She finds the process of looking and drawing satisfies a sense of wonder and mindfulness in her art practice.

Whilst working primarily in pen and ink, she also combines watercolours washes, pencil and coloured pencil in her work. Her drawings are diverse in scale and she has worked across other disciplines such as printmaking - especially linocut and etching - and installation.

Gemma graduated with a Distinction in a Master of Arts in Fine Art in 2015 from the University of Chichester, having previously attained a First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art.

In addition to work as a freelance artist, she has also completed a number of commissions for private clients; provided technical assistance to other artists; delivered talks and presentations to the general public; organised and delivered art workshops.
